This newly-renovated center offers pre-school and child care programs for children aged six weeks to kindegarten entry. While the center is affiliated with the Treatment and Learning Centers (TLC), a non-profit agency based in Rockville that provides treatment and tutoring for people with special needs, the programs at the Early Learning Center are primarily for children without special needs. All programs are based on a Creative Curriculum, the concept of learning through play.
A program for infants, aged six weeks to 23 months, is focused on sensory and cognitive development. A 1-to-3, teacher-to-child ratio ensures that each child receives attention based on his/her individualized needs.
In the Twos Program, two-year-olds are placed in small and large groups to develop social skills and expressive language. The Preschool Program, for children aged three to kindergarten entry, is made up of both directed and non-directed activities to allow for child freedom.
Throughout the year, the Twos and Preschool programs are taken on local field trips and special fun days during the summer months. The center also offers a weekly gymnastic and music program for children two years and older.
