Towson's independent student-run newspaper serves the campus and community with news, sports, reviews, opinions and a puzzle page to help students pass the time in biology class. Student editors, writers, photographers and videographers cover the entire campus and Towson community from its office on the third floor of the University Union. The paper, published by the nonprofit Baltimore Student Media, distributes 10,000 copies twice-weekly in racks, boxes and stacks around campus and throughout Towson and the York Road corridor. While Towson University supports The Towerlight through advertising dollars, it is financially and legally independent.
