Bethesda residents first gathered in March of 1965 at the Davis Library to discuss forming the parish that would become the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George. The Greek Orthodox community, which now meets in a whitewashed church building with a Mediterranean-style tiled roof along Bradley Boulevard, conducts outreach work in the community and supports mission work abroad. The church also holds regular bible study groups, hosts Sunday school classes and maintains a Greek language and culture school for children. The presiding priest of the parish is Rev. Fr. Dimitrios J. Antokas.
