The Ocean City Beach Patrol is a division of the Department of Recreation and Parks located in Ocean City, Md. The division consists a staff of more than 200 individuals who work towards maintaining a safe and orderly environment covering over 10.5 miles of the city s beaches. The division provides a full range of services that include extraction and stabilization of victims with spinal injuries, long-shore current rescue, search and recovery of submerged victims, and educating public about oceanography and marine life. It also participates in various intra-crew, local, regional, all-women and national competitions. The division takes parts in several competitions, such as the East Coast Ocean Series, Iron Guard Competitions and United States Swimming Maryland Open water Championships.
