National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism is headquartered in Bethesda, Md. It provides services for the reduction of alcohol-related problems by conducting and supporting research in a wide range of scientific areas, including genetics, neurosciences, epidemiology, health risks and benefits of alcohol consumption, prevention and treatment. The institute also coordinates and collaborates with other research institutes and Federal Programs on alcohol-related issues, and it operates with institutions, organizations, agencies and programs engaged in alcohol-related work. It offers various services and community programs, such as initiative on underage drinking, college drinking prevention and leadership programs. National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism also offers several other services that include translation and dissemination research findings to health care providers, researchers, policymakers and the public.
