HistoryOpen Door was founded in 1983 in a Maryland public school because at that time quality before and after school care was unavailable. Over 30 years the organization has grown to 34 schools with 2200 children in grades kindergarten through 8, and over 200 teachers.SpecialtiesThe Open Door School Age Child Care Program offers a nurturing and stimulating environment for students. Founded in 1983 to address the need for affordable, quality before and after school care, Open Door stands strong, retaining school age care as its singular focus. With 30 years of providing services to children, Open Door now has 34 sites with over 2200 children in care. Open Door is cognizant of the role of extended day programming in the family, the school community, and each child's growth and development.
