About Messiah Lutheran Church Messiah Lutheran Church in Germantown Maryland was formed in 1976. Here are the directions and map and how to contact us. Please see our statement of what we believe. The explaination of the Messiah Cross also explains what our congregation values. We are a member of Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod ( LCMS ), a group of Lutheran churches in the United States. Our Pastor is Rev. R Burk Hill. He has been serving the congregation since Thanksgiving 1997. Our worship style follows an Order of Worship that offers confession and forgiveness of sins, proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and celebrates the Last Supper. This is our Word and Sacrament ministry in Germantown Maryland. Our worship services frequently follow a formal liturgy found in the Lutheran Service Book. At other times, we use a more informal mix of worship hymns and songs, and dialog which focus on the scripture readings for the day. When there is a fifth Sunday in a month, we use the Order of Matins from The Lutheran Hymnal ( 1941 ). Our Organist and Choirmaster is William Parsons. He plays our Flentrop Orgelbouw pipe organ and helps promote the music ministry at Messiah. We have many oportunities to serve one another through our ministries. Our congregation is called to serve the children of Germantown with our preschool and vacation bible school. We also support a variety of local, national, and international missions.
