The Maryland Department of Aging, in partnership with local Area Agencies on Ageing, provides leadership and advocacy for senior citizens and their families through information, education, programs and services that promote and enhance choice, independence and dignity. It supports a variety of health insurance assistance programs, offers legal assistance and provides guidance related to employment. The Maryland Department of Aging also operates several senior centers that provide help to older individuals, encouraging them to take charge of their health and stay involved in their community. The department also supports the senior care system that provides case management and funds for services for people 65 or older who may be at risk of nursing home placement. The Maryland Department of Aging is located in Baltimore.
