Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the understanding and appreciation of the importance of agriculture in our daily lives. They offer a range of programs and resources, including mobile science labs, agricultural showcases, and professional development courses for teachers, to increase agricultural literacy and education from pre-kindergarten through post-secondary levels.
Supported by funds from the sale of Maryland ag tags, grants, gifts, and program fees, MAEF strives to integrate agricultural concepts into various subject areas and inspire the next generation of agricultural leaders. They also recognize outstanding teachers who go above and beyond to incorporate agriculture into their curriculum through the Velma Clark Excellence in Teaching about Ag Award, which includes a classroom stipend and a scholarship to attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference.
