Halethorpe Community Church is a vital part of the neighborhood. The church began in 1940, with the formation of the Everyman's Men's Bible Class -- an independent, non-denominational Sunday School class that drew men from various denominations in the area. The group first met in the American Legion Hall, moved first to a room over the Halethorpe Pharmacy, then to a renovated bowling alley and eventually ended up in the current property at 1312 Francis Avenue. The church offers classes and Bible studies for married couples, as well as an annual marriage retreat.
