Joe Flaherty has been teaching competitive swimming since 1975 and continues to do so at the Quince Orchard Swim & Tennis Club in Gaithersburg. He also offers lessons and training for swimmers from 18 months to 60 years of age. Mr. Flaherty has the lowest coach-to-swimmer ratio in Montgomery County and very flexible scheduling. All skill levels are welcome to train. Training includes cardio, endurance and strength.

Fairland Aquatics Swim Team

For eight years, the Fairland Aquatics Swim Team has developed swimmers from novice through senior levels. The team is for anyone wanting to learn proper stroke technique and train for competitions. Swimmers compete at the local level in summer leagues, high school and regional level. Membership Groups: White Group: Swimmers interested in learning basic skills. (6 to 9 year olds) Blue Group: Swimmers ranging from novice to championship meet qualifiers. (9 to 13 year olds) Red I Group: Swimmers in high school looking to improve without a large time commitment. (14 to 18 year olds) High School Prep: High school swim team members preparing for their seasons. (14 to 18 year olds) Advanced Groups Blue II Group: Swimmers looking to qualify for local championship meets and regional championships.
