Located in Ellicott City, Md., Homewood Center is administered by the Howard County Public School System, which serves more than 48,000 students in over 70 schools. The center houses three distinct programs, each designed to meet the specific needs of individual students who have difficulty functioning in traditional classroom settings. It operates Bridges, a special education program designed for middle and high school students who require separate school programs. The center also operates the Gateway Program, an alternative educational program for students in need of intensive academic and behavioral instruction and support. This program also serves students in middle and high schools. In addition, Homewood Center operates a short-term transitional program, kno9wn as the Passages Program, which provides academic and behavioral support to students returning to the Howard County Public School System from other placements.
