The Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences, which dates back to 1961, is a membership group that supports the National Institutes of Health community and the community at large through programs and continuing education. The FAES graduate school enrolls about 2,000 students, mostly members of NIH. It offers courses in the sciences, as well as English language classes for non-native speakers. The school also features a science bookstore and an art collection, and operates a social and academic center on Old Georgetown Road.
