CNX Marine Terminal, a subsidiary of CONSOL Energy located in the Port of Baltimore, provides coal transshipment from rail to ocean-going vessels. The terminal can transship coal directly from rail cars to ocean-going vessels, or transloaded and blended from coal stockpiles. During 2004, a total of 5.5 million tons of coal was shipped through the Baltimore terminal, including 1.3 million tons of company-produced coal. The terminal is capable of storing more than 1 million tons of coal on site and is the only East Coast terminal served by two railroads. CONSOL Energy, through its subsidiaries, is a producer of bituminous coal in the United States, with nearly 20 bituminous coal mining complexes in several states. It is a fuel supplier to the electric power industry in the Northeast. CONSOL Energy is based in Pittsburgh.
