Columbia Country Club is the successor of the Columbia Golf Club, which was organized in 1898. Various changes have been made since then on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes of the golf course, made possible by the construction of a water line through the area by Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, under its power of domain. Walter J. Travis designed the golf course, and the U.S. Golf Open was held at the club in 1921. The club covers an area of more than 125-acres, and houses an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Columbia Country Club also features various tennis courts, including platform courts, and a clubhouse. It also offers various membership programs. Columbia Country Club is located in Chevy Chase, Md
