The Bureau of Roads Operations, a part of Carroll County in Maryland, maintains approximately 970 miles of roads and over 130 bridges. The bureau specializes in the routine maintenance of roadside mowing, patching, drainage work, and pipe cleaning and replacement. It also offers tree trimming and removal and storm drain maintenance and repair services. The Bureau of Roads Operations additionally provides surface sealing operations. The bureau responds to various emergency situations, such as snowstorms, flooding, downed trees and vehicle accidents. It stores salt and abrasives at nearly five locations throughout the county. The Bureau of Roads Operations is also responsible for the maintenance of several types of road signs and highway striping.
