Located at the Davidsonville Family Recreation Center, Boy Scout Pack Unit 454 is chartered by the Davidsonville Ruritan Club. They serve the boys of the greater Davidsonville and Riva areas. Members learn ethical values and life skills to prepare them for making lifelong best choices. They follow the Boy Scout Law and Oath and focus on outdoor programs. Their values are participatory citizenship, moral strength and character, and development of physical, mental and emotional fitness.
Troup 454 is a boy-led troop. Adult leadership facilitates activities, but the Senior Patrol Leader and his Patrol lead activities. Boy Scout members contribute to the yearly schedule learning valuable leadership skills. Weekly meetings are Wednesday evenings from 7pm - 8:30pm. Meetings include instruction, patrol time, and games or activities. Members are self-paced and are encouraged to show initiative in advancement. Outdoor field activites are held monthly and summer field trips have included hikes through historic areas, whitewater rafting trips, caving/spelunking trips, canoeing/kayaking trips, fishing trips, rifle/shotgun shooting outings, and camping on Naval ships. Full week summer camp takes place each year.
