The Board of Education of Allegany County is a consultative body of Allegany County Public Schools with responsibilities for making policies in the areas of planning, policy development, financing, public relations and evaluation. Allegany County Public Schools operates several elementary, middle and high schools that provide an academic education to students in kindergarten through grade 12. Its schools offer educational programs in music, language arts, math, English, science, social studies, physical education and computer technology. In addition, Allegany County Public Schools provides programs that focus on the development of reading, language arts and math skills in lower grades. Its schools operate libraries that provide a range of books and instructional materials. Allegany County Public Schools offers scholarships and health screening and meal services. It supports several student clubs and organizations that host various events and functions. Allegany County Public Schools is located in Cumberland, Md.
