History
The club was formed by a small group of dedicated modelers answering an ad in the January issue of Model Maker magazine. The Modelers met in the home of George Nixon in March to form the club, they leased a space at 1613 N. Chester Street. They had their first operating layout by 1935, at this time it was O scale and outside third rail. The club's first move was in 1944, to accommodate a second layout in HO scale when they merged with an HO club. After World War II, the club lost their lease at 3305 Greeenmount Ave. So the club moved to the basement of the post office on North Ave, but the space here could not accommodate the 1000 plus visitors to the annual holiday shows, so the club moved 225 W. Saratoga street just off the Howard Street shopping district. The say there was a long 67 years, but with the sale of the building the club once again was forced to relocate. In our current location we will promote the hobby of model railroading with clinics and construction of new layouts.
