Founded in 1923, American Yeast, a subsidiary of Lallemand's North American Baker's Yeast and Ingredients Division, produces bakers and brewers yeast. The parent comapny, a privately held Canadian company, owns and operates manufacturing facilities in North American and Europe that produce bakers, wine and specialty yeasts and bacteria. Lallemand is one of the leading producers of yeast and baking ingredients and supplies a range of products to the baking industry through its subsidiaries American Yeast Sales and Lallemand Distribution in the United States. Its products, along with a range of other baking ingredients, are marketed through its own sales and distribution organization. Its American Yeast Sales produces fresh, cream and instant baker's yeast along with dough conditioners and baking powders.
