Established with the merger of Kennebec Valley and Mid-Maine medical centers, MaineGeneral Medical Center is an acute-care hospital with facilities in both Augusta and Waterville, Maine. The center has nearly 320 acute-care beds and provides emergency care, medical and surgical care, maternal and child health and inpatient and outpatient diagnostic services. Each year it admits nearly 13,000 patients and treats more than 300,000 outpatients. The center is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
