History
Although Museum L-A was founded in 1996, our doors opened in 2004 to showcase the hard work, grit, and ingenuity of our local mill workers, shoe workers, and brick makers who founded the cities of Lewiston and Auburn, Maine. In addition to featuring the machines and tools used in these trade industries, we tell the stories of the people who worked so hard to make our communities what they are today.
