History
The Maine State Prison has had a working industrial program since it's early days when inmates worked the quarry, constructed wooden wagons, buckboards, wheel barrows, and the finest sleighs in New England. With the advent of the automobile, the Industries program evolved and began crafting furniture and later expanded this line in the late 1930's to include crafts and novelty items.
