Lonza Rockland, located in Rockland, Maine, supplies products for electrophoretic separations. In the 1970s the company was known as Marine Colloids. FMC Corporation purchased Marine Colloids in 1977 and FMC BioProducts was born. In 1999, Cambrex Corporation purchased FMC BioProducts and its name was changed to BioWhittaker Molecular Applications. In 2002, it was changed again to Cambrex Bio Science Rockland. Cambrex is a global, diversified life sciences company dedicated to providing products and services to accelerate and improve the discovery and commercialization of human therapeutics. Since the mid-1990s, Cambrex has helped customers develop their active pharmaceutical ingredients more efficiently and cost-effectively. The company, now known as Lonza Rockland, has diagnosed and overcome problems that clients had in their manufacturing processes, provided clinical or commercial quantities of hundreds of pharmaceutical products and provided the analytical, regulatory and other support services that clients need to shorten the time to market.
