Bangor Water District is a quasi-municipal utility providing public drinking water and fire protection services to the residents of Bangor, Maine, and portions of the neighboring communities of Clifton, Hermon, Eddington, Hampden, Orrington and Veazie, Maine. More than 9,000 tests have been conducted on over 4,100 samples in the district s lab that is certified for bacteria and certain chemical analyses. Bangor s water treatment is done at Johnston Pump Station, Ozone Contractors and various pump stations and standpipes. A supervisory control and data acquisition system computer supports operations of the pump station and standpipes, chemical dosing and monitoring of equipment. Water is then routed through a 30-inch reinforced pre- stressed concrete pipeline from Floods Pond to the Penobscot River.
