HistoryThe River Church was established in 2019 under the direction of Pastors, Jody and Nancy Patterson. Two churches in Bar Harbor, previously The Island Lighthouse Church (current location) and The Message Church (formerly on Park Street in downtown Bar Harbor) merged to create The River. A wide mix of ages and all walks of life have come to form our family. Our worship is contemporary and our teachings are Bible based. We are focused on building close relationships with each other and with Christ. We welcome you to join us and experience what makes our church a family!SpecialtiesWhen you arrive at The River, you will be greeted by our friendly welcome team! We invite you to grab a cup of coffee and mingle and chat before service starts at 10:30. Our services start with a few songs ranging from old favorites to contemporary worship. After worship, Pastor Jody preaches a Bible-based, Christ-centered message. Services tend to run about 90 minutes, with most Sundays wrapping up around noon. There is a place for your kids and youth here at The River as well! Whether it is in the nursery, River Kids, or Impact Youth, we have an experience crafted just for them! Our nursery is staffed most Sundays for the full duration of service. River Kids also takes place for the full duration of service - check in with one of our awesome team members and know your child is safe and going to have fun! Impact Youth is dismissed directly following worship and singing. We welcome you to come as you are - you don't have to dress up or pretend to be something you're not at The River!
