Saint Roch Chapel in New Orleans, LA, is a historic cemetery and chapel located in the Bywater neighborhood. Established as part of a promise to spare the parish from the Yellow Fever Epidemic, the chapel is renowned for its Good Friday worship and is the final resting place of many prominent New Orleanians.
The cemetery, divided into the original St. Roch Cemetery and the Campo Santo, is the burial site of old Italian and Sicilian families, including the ancestors of the DeMajo family, who contributed to the construction of the chapel. Additionally, the chapel houses the tomb of Gaetano and Angelina Saladino DeMajo, and pays tribute to Odilia M. Froeba, the long-serving organist and choir director of Holy Trinity Church.
