History
The Red River Revel, winner of the 1988 President's Volunteer Action Award, began in 1976 as the Junior League of Shreveport's Bicentennial gift to the citizens of the region. The goal of the festival is to provide the general populace a celebration of the finest visual and performing arts experiences.
Specialties
The Red River Revel Arts Festival, the largest outdoor arts festival in North Louisiana, attracts 180,000+ people to the Shreveport riverfront over the course of eight days. The Arts Festival celebrates the arts with more than 140 juried artists from across the country displaying and selling their creations; 17 food booths run by local non-profit organizations; 5 food booths run by for-profit businesses; morning and afternoon arts education programs; exhibits; lectures; and performing arts programs on three outdoor stages.
