Established in 1941, the East Baton Rouge Housing Authority is an independent agency that provides homes and other suitable living facilities for low-income families. It operates administration, finance and public housing departments. The authority provides moving options, rental assistance and temporary housing arrangements through its assisted and public housing programs. It operates more than 10 development sites that are designed to accommodate families, senior citizens and people with disabilities. Some of the complexes listed by the East Baton Rouge Housing Authority feature ovens, refrigerators, freezers, and playground and laundry facilities.
