Baton Rouge Community Development provides housing opportunities, improved living environments, and expanded opportunities for person of low and moderate income. The department offers a variety of housing programs that include homebuyers assistance program, home ownership center, housing rehabilitation contracting, loans and grants, new housing developments, rental housing rehabilitation loans, sewer line assistance, weatherization assistance, and volunteer housing program. It also offers a variety of homeless assistance programs, such as emergency shelter grant, local emergency shelters, and continuum of care supportive housing program. Baton Rouge Community Development offers shelters for families living together, single individuals, suffering women, mentally ill, and persons with alcohol and substance abuse problems.
