History
Cross Gates Racquet Club was opened as primarily a neighborhood racquet and swim club. When the Welch's took ownership in 1994, under their direction the name was changed to Cross Gates Athletic Club to reflect an identity of a multi-purpose family health and fitness facility. After a devastating fire in 1996, Cross Gates Athletic Club was built into what you see today - an incredible place of fitness and fun for all ages. When we opened Cross Gates 25 years ago, we had a goal to create the greatest athletic Club in the region. It is a place to stay healthy and have fun. It is for the children, the seniors and everyone in between. That's why we changed our tag line from Athletic Club to Family Fitness. We're more than just an athletic club--we're a place for everybody. Growing better every year: Cross Gates Family Fitness.
Specialties
Cross Gates Family Fitness is Slidell's ultimate health and fitness center. Cross Gates does not solely focus on the weight training and cardio aspect of working out like many other gyms do. We feel that a fitness center should cater to people from every walk of life rather than a niche group of people. As a result, Cross Gates offers a extremely wide variety of classes. In addition to our classes, we have two heated pools, a spa, a tennis court and indoor courts for basketball, volleyball and racquetball. Cross Gates is a place where both individuals and families can have fun and get fit. Cross Gates Athletic Club will provide a safe, fun environment in which members can obtain their fitness and recreational goals, no matter their age or physical condition. Furthermore, we pledge to emphasize value, not price, with exceptional service, creating for each member a unique and uplifting experience.
