History
Armchair Philosophical Counseling arose out of Elizabeth McDermott's interest in philosophy as a time-tested resource for asking and answering important questions about life, happiness, anxiety, responsibility, relationships, and tool for making decisions about how to think and act in our world. Her practice was established in 2015 in New Orleans after years of education in Philosophy and training in philosophical counseling.
Specialties
I offer dialogue based counseling for people experiencing anxiety or unhappiness. Stress and depression are often born of confusion and uncertainty, misunderstanding, feeling helpless and doubt. I help clients look for the causes of unhappiness through self-reflexive assessment. In philosophical counseling, clients are encouraged to examine their beliefs and values and develop a greater sense of self-awareness and understanding.
