Waterfront Botanical Gardens is an urban garden located just outside downtown Louisville, Kentucky. The Gardens are being built on top of a former landfill, with five acres complete of the full 23-acre site. Since opening to the public in 2019, Waterfront Botanical Gardens has completed Phase 1 of its Master Plan including the Graeser Family Education Center, Ellen T. Leslie Botanical Classrooms, Beargrass Creek Pathway, plaza, various plantings, bonsai display, and more. Three phases of construction remain. The Gardens are currently free to visit, with opportunities for adult and youth education, special events, festivals, group tours, and more. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, Waterfront Botanical Gardens continues to fundraise to support operations and completion of the full Master Plan. Future developments will include an authentic Japanese Garden, event lawn, Children's Garden, Visitors Center, and Conservatory.
