History
Survivors' Corner was formed as result of our founder recognizing a calling to support trauma survivors in sharing their truths as part of their healing journey. As a trauma survivor herself, when Donna Pollard first began speaking about her personal experience of exploitation and child marriage, she realized how triggering and re-exploitive sharing her experience could be. This led her to create a supportive network for survivors to come together and share their experience in a safe and brave space, deepening their individual and collective healing, in preparation of sharing their experiences publicly. The first Survivors' Corner Speak Out Support Workshop was conducted in a training room of the downtown library in Louisville, KY. Since then, Survivors' Corner has acquired an office space and holds the workshops, among other programming, in the Smoketown neighborhood of Louisville.
