Founded in 1902, National Band & Tag Company by Joseph Haas to manufacture poultry leg and wing bands. The family business has grown to employ approximately 50 people and sell animal identification products throughout the world. Its products include a complete assortment of poultry leg and wing bands; bands used for conservation including duck bands, raccoon and ostrich; and identification for zoo animals, research animals and livestock identification, as well as a line of industrial tags and plant labels. Many of its tags, while designed for a particular animal use, can be used for other purposes as well. One example is using its dog tags as city vehicle tags attached to the license plates. The company also produces laser engraving bar codes on its tags in order for its customers to take advantage of the efficiencies that computerization brings to their projects.
