The Kentucky Shotokan Karate Association (KSKA) is a nationally affiliated martial arts organization that offers traditional Japanese karate classes for men, women, and children. As a member of the Shotokan Karate-Do International (SKDI) and the Japan Karate Association (JKA), the KSKA provides instruction in Kihon (basic karate movements and techniques), Kata (pre-arranged forms or patterns of karate), and Kumite (sparring).
Founded in 1986, the KSKA is directed by Master Masataka Mori, a 9th Dan JKA instructor, and is part of a global network of karate clubs. With a focus on self-defense, discipline, confidence, fitness, and respect, the KSKA aims to cultivate the character of its participants, following the philosophy of Shotokan karate's founder, Gichin Funakoshi.
