The Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction, also known as DHBC, protects the lives and properties of citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky through educational, licensing and inspection programs. It specializes in the administration of codes and standards related to hazardous materials and the fire prevention, construction and maintenance of buildings and structures. Established in 1978, the department operates a heating, ventilation and air conditioning division. The Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction s boiler inspection section inspects uninsured boilers and pressure vessels. In addition, its building codes enforcement division is responsible for reviewing plans and making inspections of new building construction.
