Central Kentucky Blood Center, established in 1968, provides blood products to patients in central and eastern Kentucky. The organization gathers blood donations from more than 2,000 donor groups who give at mobile drives held at local businesses, manufacturing plants, organizations, clubs, colleges, high schools and churches. It has partnerships with various hospitals in Kentucky, including Cumberland County Hospital, Cardinal Hill Hospital, Berea Hospital and Jenkins Community Hospital. It is also a donor center for the national registry of potential bone marrow donors. The organization also produces a variety of publications providing information for donors and potential donors that include Saving Lives Together, Blood Safety and Blood Donation. Central Kentucky Blood Center operates branches in Lexington, Somerset, Pikeville and Prestonsburg, Ky.
