The Jessamine County Fire District, established in 1957 as a volunteer fire organization, has a rich history of serving the community with honor, courage, dedication, and service. Over the years, the district has grown in size and capabilities, now comprising of sixty members, seven stations, and nineteen apparatus. From its humble beginnings with used trucks, the district has expanded its response capabilities to include various rescue operations, such as rope rescue, confined space rescue, and large animal rescue.
Under the leadership of Chief Mike Rupard, the Jessamine County Fire District has made significant strides in providing efficient and effective fire, rescue, and emergency medical services. The district's commitment to training and continuous improvement is evident through the establishment of a Training Bureau in 2005 and the addition of full-time firefighters to meet the demands of a growing county. The district also pays tribute to the brave firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty, displaying the J2C emblem as a constant reminder of their dedication and sacrifice.
