City Hall is a part of the City of Frankfort, which is the capital of the commonwealth of Kentucky. Founded in 1786, the city has a population of approximately 28,000 residents. With more than 300 full-time employees, it is governed by city commissioners and a mayor and is administered by the city manager. The City of Frankfort operates administration, finance, police, human resources, public works, and purchasing and risk management departments. The city also maintains information technology, street, urban forestry, sanitation, and parks and recreation divisions. The city s clerk is in the charge of the maintenance and safekeeping of permanent city records.
