The Archdiocese of Louisville, Ky., growing from the communities in the three rural counties of Marion, Nelson, and Washington, more than 200 years ago, was constituted a metropolitan See in 1937. It consists of more than 200,000 Catholics in 24 counties, in central Kentucky, with more than 120 parishes and missions, served by more than 160 diocesan priests. It has more than 60 elementary and high schools serving more than 23,000 students. It supports more than 220,000 persons in Catholic hospitals, health care centers, homes for the aged and specialized care centers. The Archdiocese of Louisville also serves the community through its ministry programs including counseling services, single parent seminars and family programs.
