Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WAMPO) is the federally required regional policy body responsible for the metropolitan transportation planning process in 22 cities and 3 counties in South Central Kansas. Recognizing the vital connection between transportation and various societal goals, WAMPO aims to promote economic health, air quality, social equity, environmental resource stewardship, and overall quality of life in the Wichita metropolitan region.
With a focus on fair and impartial decision-making, WAMPO provides technical expertise, develops long-range and short-range transportation plans, engages the community, and ensures public and stakeholder involvement in the transportation planning process. Guided by a regional vision and core documents such as the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), WAMPO works towards improved mobility, access, and strategic investment decision-making for the future of transportation in the region.
