Founded in 1945, Saint Francis Community Services is a children welfare ministry that serves the victims of abuse, neglect, chemical dependency, gang affiliations and conduct disorders. It provides assisted living services for male and female adults with developmental disabilities. The organization additionally offers the Youth Opportunity Leadership Program (YOLP), which provides adolescent boys and girls the opportunities to experience and develop moral and ethical values. Saint Francis Community Services also provides emergency temporary care shelter for male youths between the ages of 12 and 18. It offers in-home mediation and therapy services to youths and families. In addition, the organization provides foster care and case management services, as well as alcohol and drug treatment for juveniles who are at high risk for chemical dependency. It offers the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program (VORP), which provides alternatives to the traditional court processes for youthful offenders in nonviolent crimes. With one of its locations in Hutchinson, Kan., Saint Francis Community Services is approved by the Joint Commission.
