History
Shinzenkan dojo is the most recent dojo in a history that includes 35 years of martial arts training in more than 6 states and dojo. After growing up in Salina, I left for college where I began my study of Japanese martial arts. I continues this study, teaching and running dojo for some of my teachers along the way until I returned to Salina in 2010. Finding no place to train and no one teaching similar arts, I opened Shinzenkan Dojo. Shinzenkan Dojo is dedicated to providing self-defense and martial arts to all interested students, Bigs and Littles in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program train for free. NO-ONE is every turned away for inability to pay.
Specialties
Shinzenkan Dojo is dedicated to the training and study of traditional Japanese martial arts. We seek to keep alive and pass on the traditions and techniques of the Japanese arts that have endured for centuries before us and apply them to modern self-defense. While we obviously spend a great deal of time training in martial arts, we recognize two important facts: We believe self-defense as a whole MUST include healthy diet and fitness, bully prevention, positive self-image, environmental self-defense, education & literacy, community involvement, and leadership. We work diligently to incorporate these areas in to our curricula for all age groups.
