The Shawnee County Family Resource Center is a nonprofit organization that provides prevention, intervention and treatment services. It offers Gatekeepers, a program that serves vulnerable adults through intake, assessment and referral services with a special focus on physical and mental health issues. The organization offers translation services in verbal and written communication to Spanish-speaking clients. The Shawnee County Family Resource Center also provides the Juvenile Intake and Assessment program, a 24-hour, seven days a week response to children and youths taken into custody by law enforcement agencies. Its family support services include crisis intervention, home visitation and support, and education classes and support groups. In addition, the organization has a library that provides archives of relevant news, articles, speeches, research papers and other background materials. The Shawnee County Family Resource Center is located in Topeka, Kan.
