The Liberal Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the city of Liberal, Kan. It prevents crime, protects residents lives and property, suppresses criminal activity, and apprehends and prosecutes offenders. The department maintains an investigations division, which is a specialized unit and is comprised of evidence, criminal investigations and professional standard sections. The division provides a range of investigative services by investigating criminal cases involving narcotics violations, crimes against persons and crimes against society. It also ensures the proper handling of property and evidence that is brought into the custody of the police department. The Liberal Police Department also has administration and operations divisions.
