The Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility was built in 1989. It houses inmates suffering from sever mental illnesses. The facility is a part of the Kansas Department of Corrections. It administers a behavior modification program for inmates with personality disorders. The center offers acute care treatment and residential rehabilitation programs. It also provides psychiatric rehabilitation and vocational services for adult males. The center s West Unit is a minimum-custody facility that houses more than 215 male offenders. It provides psychological evaluations, activity and music therapy, and crisis intervention, group and individual consultation solutions. The center offers academic education programs, as well as optical, dental, X-ray, and laboratory services. It maintains a library that features a collection of books, cassettes and periodicals.
