Established in 1992, the Flint Hills Job Corps Center is a federally funded vocational training program for young adults between the ages of 16 and 24. In addition to vocational training, the center offers basic education classes, advanced training, and high school diploma and college programs. It is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Kansas State High School Athletics Association. The Flint Hills Job Corps Center has nearly 250 residential and nonresidential students. Its students participate in exploration programs that are designed to provide basic tools necessary for employment. Each of its students is assigned a career development services specialist. The Flint Hills Job Corps Center also provides various extracurricular activities, such as field trips, games, dances, movies, and arts and crafts.
