The Storm Lake Police Department is a full-service, community-oriented law enforcement agency that works to maintain peaceful and safe environment and protects residents lives and property. Located in Storm Lake, Iowa, the department employs more than 20 full-time officers. It maintains the Citizens Police Academy, which provides working knowledge of the department to residents. The Storm Lake Police Department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an educational program that helps to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, violence and gang activities. The department operates a patrol division that enforces laws and regulations regarding traffic rules. It also maintains an investigation division and a K-9 unit.
