Mercy Health Network was founded in 1998 under a joint operating agreement between two of the largest Catholic, nonprofit health organizations in the United States, Catholic Health Initiatives, based in Denver, and Trinity Health, based in Novi, Mich. The network includes five major medical centers that includes Mercy Medical Center Clinton, Mercy Medical Center Des Moines, Mercy Medical Center Dubuque, Mercy Medical Center North Iowa and Mercy Medical Center Sioux City; four rural community hospitals and 24 affiliated hospitals; 98 physician clinic sites; and 12,200 employees. The network also includes other facilities, such as nursing homes and inpatient hospices. Mercy Health Network maintains a location in Des Moines, Iowa.
